23/03/2007 The University of Arts in Belgrade launches the call for the MA programme in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy
  Application deadline: 1 May & 1 June 2007

The postgraduate programme is organised by the University of Arts in Belgrade (UAB), in partnership with the French University Lyon 2. The programme is supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of UNESCO and the Central European Initiative. The ECUMEST Association is the local partner of the programme in Romania.

The programme is open to graduates with university degree and to professionals with proved experience in the field of culture from the Balkan region as well as other European countries with an interest in the region. The postgraduate studies aim to train the future managers of cultural organisations and cultural project leaders by providing necessary theoretical and practical tools for development and implementation of cultural policies and cultural projects.

The programme is developed over one year of study - October 2007 September 2008 and includes courses, project development, case studies, a study visit in Serbia and the region, a 3-6 months internship in a cultural organisation from the Balkans or France, as well as the preparation and the defence of the dissertation.

Non-francophone students can attend French language courses inside the university. The courses will take place in French (with simultaneous translation) or in English.

For francophone students the programme offers the possibility of obtaining a co-diploma (from the UAB and Lyon 2 University). The anglophone students will receive the MA degree in Cultural Management from the University of Arts in Belgrade.

Conditions for application
> fluency in English is mandatory; fluency in French is an asset;
> BA degree (at least 4-year studies);
> relevant experience in the cultural field.

The application procedure
The application dossier (in English or French) should include:
1) the application form completed together with a CV stating previous professional experience, as well as the scanned copy of the BA diploma: to be submitted in electronic format to coordinator@arts.bg.ac.yu, no later than 1 May 2007 (for early-bird applicants out of Serbia seeking an early answer) & 1 June 2007; application period for students from Serbia will be from May until September;
2) upon confirmation of their selection, selected candidates should submit the certified copies of Diploma(s) obtained or transcripts of notes officially translated into English or French via postal mail to the University of Arts in Belgrade (attn: Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Group Coordinator).

The fees for study are of 1400 EUR/ year. The students should cover or find themselves a financial support covering these fees as well as the costs of their travel and full boarding in Belgrade (estimated at 3600 EUR/ year).

The selection process
The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of the submitted candidature dossiers by a Jury established in the frame of the University of Arts in Belgrade.

The Admission Jury will make a selection of candidates on the basis of submitted applications and also the personal and/or telephone interview will take place with short listed candidates.

French-speaking applicants from the region are advised to ask at the French Embassy in their country for scholarship opportunities.
