Overview of the Romanian independent cultural scene in focus at LabforCulture.org |
|
At the commissioning of LabforCulture.org, ECUMEST has undertaken an overview of the current status of contemporary cultural scene in Romania. The features are now part of the latest Region in Focus dedicated to both Romania and Bulgaria at LabforCulture.org.
The materials include a cover article written by Corina Suteu on the basis of interviews given by visual artist Ciprian Muresan; curator Alina Serban; film producer Ada Solomon; sociologist Radu Malureanu; Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs Virgil-Stefan Nitulescu. Taken by Simona Chitan, cultural editor of Evenimentul zilei newspaper, the interviews explore the present situation for independent artistic practices in Romania, the challenges of cultural cooperation after accession to the European Union in 2007 and the question of public support in favour of the contemporary Romanian cultural scene.
Among the other features of the Region in Focus, a selection of independent cultural organisations active in various artistic fields can also be consulted online, and a forum will also be started to discuss the topics brought up by the section.
Visit www.labforculture.org to access the online features of the Region in Focus and the elecronic publications page of the ECUMEST website to read the full texts of the interviews.
LabforCulture.org is a partner initiative of the European Cultural Foundation.
