10/05/2005 The University of Arts in Belgrade, the ECUMEST Association and French Embassy in Bucharest launch in Romania the call for the programme of Regional Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy in the Balkans (based in Belgrade).
  The postgraduate programme is organised by the University of Arts in Belgrade, in partnership with the French universities Lyon 2 and the Institute of Political Studies in Grenoble. The programme is supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of UNESCO and the Central European Initiative. The Embassy of France in Bucharest and the ECUMEST Association are the local partners of the programme in Romania.

The programme is open to graduates with University Degree and professionals with proved experience in the field of culture (at least two years) from the Balkan region, who have strong knowledge of French and/or English. The postgraduate studies aim to train the future managers of cultural organisations and cultural project leaders by providing necessary theoretical and practical tools for development and implementation of cultural policies and cultural projects.

The programme is developed over 2 years of study. The first year is dedicated to courses, to the development of projects, case studies, as well as to a study visit. The second year is dedicated to a 3-6 months internship in a cultural organisation from the Balkans or France, as well as to preparing the disertation, which will be defended in June 2007.

The non-francophone students can attend inside the university courses of French language (6 hours/week). The courses will take place in French (with simoultaneous translation) or in English.


For francophone students the programme offers the possibility of obtaining a co-diploma (from the UAB and the French universities). The anglophone students will receive the MA degree in Cultural Management from the University of Arts in Belgrade.

Conditions for application:
> fluency in French or English;
> BA degree (at least 4-year studies) or relevant experience in the cultural field.

The application proceedure:
The application dossier (in English or French) should include:
1) the application form completed together with a letter of motivation in which the candidate will explain the relevance of the programme for his/hers professional career, as well as a resume (to be submitted in electronic format to coordinator@arts.bg.ac.yu, no later than 31 May 2005);
2) the certified translation of the diploma (to be sent by selected candidates by mail to Ms. Darja Butigan, no later than 15 September 2005).


The selection process:
The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of the submitted candidature dossiers by a Committee established in the frame of the University of Arts in Belgrade. The francophone students are invited to apply for financial support at the French Embassy.

The Romanian selected candidates who will apply for scholarships at the French Embassy in Bucharest will be invited to an interview, which will take place in Bucharest no later than July 15, 2005.

The fees for study are of 1100 EUR/ year. The students who do not benefit from scholarships will cover the costs of full boarding in Belgrade.
